Handmade Xmas Cards and Tags

Image
I love making Xmas cards and sending them to people I know will not only enjoy but also appreciate the effort that goes into making them. It can be a pretty time consuming job and even with all the best intentions in the world I always seem to leave it to the last minute..............but NOT this year. With all my xmas stuff still out I put it to Mary and Kim that instead of doing our normal scrapping every second weekend perhaps we could make a start on our cards for this year, of course they saw the amazing logic behind it soooo we had a few saturdays of making cards and tags. I would like to share with you some that I made and let you know some techniques that I used. This couldn't be more simple (pinched the idea from the gorgeous Miss Kim) just small squares of pp, inked and placed on the card, I kept the embellies pretty simple, metal tags I have had forever, pieces of snowflake ribbon from http://www.craftqueen.com.au/index.php and small white Kaiser flowers that I spent

Just a walk in the park

Little tree hugger  After what seems like weeks of rain, grey skies and really yucky days it was so awesome to see the sun shining. It really made me want to be outside so I rang the gorgeous Miss Mary and Kim to come for a walk around the Orange Botanical Gardens with me. Miss Mary was able to unfortunately Miss Kim couldn't escape (I did offer to kidnap her). Anyhoo Mary and I had a coffee at the cafe there and then had a nice leisurely stroll around the gardens. It's been a while since I had been there and it is interesting to see how much things have grown. The gorgeous Mary Bennetts It was really nice to spend some time with Mary, we took lots of pics, had lots of laughs, fantastic way to spend a couple of hours. Luvs ya Mary x

Kim and Hugo

Image
This is my gorgeous friend Kim and her youngest son Hugo, the pic was taken in the Fairy Sparkle Garden at the New Orange Base Hospital. Little Hugo spent nearly a week there after having to have his appendix removed and as there was an abscess behind it he ended up being a sick little boy.   Kim never left his side the whole time he was there, she is a truly remarkable lady and the love she has for her family is amazing. I took this pic on the morning of the day he came home, he was definately getting better and wanting to be a little boy and run and jump around, pity about the stitches in his side, pulled him up a few times, poor little man. I have never been to the childrens ward at the old hospital so never saw what the garden looked like, but awww the new one is just so pretty that I couldn't resist snapping a few extra pics. Feel in love with the giant light up trees, anyone who knows me, knows that I can't resist sparkling, twinkling lights, would love to see

Scrap that Song - February Challenge

Image
Well February is suppose to be the month of love but here at Scrap that Song  http://scrapthatsong.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/break-up-songs.html we decided to put a bit of a different twist on it, by making our Challenge for this month all about "Breakup songs" The dt have many ways of intrepreting this, from real breakups, to being challenged and how a gorgeous little girl got her name. I went with the meaning of the challenge as I have recently seperated from my partner of seven and a half years. It was a mutual decision but to be facing my 52nd birthday this year single is a very dauting prospect, to say the least. I tried some different techniques with this page as I feel it is good to push yourself out of your comfort zone, now and then. I used JoSonyas Antique White behind the pic, sprayed it with Jack Frost glimmer mist, and stamped with a  gorgeous Kaiser Butterfly stamp. Even though we are still good friends I decided to add some angst (not real though) to the p
